How does enrollment work?
Leadership Prep is a public charter school. The open enrollment period is from the first Monday of February to the third Friday of February each year for the next school year. During this time, any student in our geographic boundaries can submit a pre-enrollment application for an available space. Our geographical boundaries are:
Allen ISD, Aubrey ISD, Celina ISD, Denton ISD, Frisco ISD, Lewisville ISD, Little Elm ISD, McKinney ISD, Plano ISD and Prosper ISD
At the end of the enrollment period, if there are more applications than spaces, everyone will go into a random electronic lottery to fill the spaces and to generate the waiting list. Consideration will be given to siblings. If there are fewer applications than spaces, then all applicants can be admitted and applications can continue to be taken on a first come, first served basis. If a lottery is needed, it is conducted on the Thursday after the enrollment period ends.
The lottery system sends an email within 48 hours of the lottery taking place with the applicant's results. Those admitted will receive an electronic admission packet that must be completed by the given deadline. Failure to submit a completed admission packet will cause the forfeit of his/her position in the application process. The remaining names from the lottery will then be drawn and placed on a waiting list in the order in which they were drawn. If a vacancy arises before the commencement of the Leadership Prep year, the individual on the waiting list with the lowest number of assignments will be offered admission and then removed from the waiting list. If an application is received after the application period has passed, the applicant’s name will be added to the waiting list behind the names of the applicants who timely applied.Waiting lists will not carry over from year to year, so any students not admitted will need to reapply the following year.
Admitted students will have the opportunity to re-enroll in February for the next school year without going through the lottery. Their siblings will be given priority for any available spaces.
Staff children are exempt from the lottery and will also be given priority for any available spaces.
Federal guidelines permit the school to exempt students already admitted, siblings of students already admitted, children of the charter's founders, and children of teachers.

When does open enrollment start?
Our open enrollment opens on the first Monday of February and concludes on the third Friday of February each year for admission that fall. Our Pre-Enrollment is an online process and will be available on our website throughout the open enrollment period. This is NOT a first-come, first-served process, so it does not matter if you submit your application on the first day or the last day of open enrollment.
If we receive more applications than open spaces during this three-week window, then we will hold an electronic random lottery to determine those who are admitted and the order of those who are placed on the waiting list. If you apply outside that open enrollment window, then your application will go onto the list in the order in which it was received.

Will there be any tours/open houses prior to Open Enrollment?
Yes! We have our Annual Open House in January for prospective families before the application window opens in February.
We do not give tours outside this event for either campus. Please refer to our calendar for date and time.

What grades does Leadership Prep School serve?
We offer kindergarten through 12th grade. Our elementary school serves grades K-4, our middle school serves grades 5-8, and our high school serves grades 9-12.

Does LPS charge tuition?
No, we are a state-funded charter school and we do not charge tuition. We do, however, charge a yearly supply fee. This fee covers all school supplies for the entire school year, class field trips, parties, class t-shirts, and more.
The specifics are communicated to parents before the start of the school year.

Does LPS offer Special Education options?
Yes. We serve all students, and have a highly trained staff of special education teachers, including services for Dyslexia, English as a Second Language, and Gifted and Talented.

Do LPS students wear uniforms?
Yes, our students must wear uniform attire. Our basic guidelines are: a navy blue or white collared shirt and navy or khaki bottoms (pants, shorts, skorts) for grades Kindergarten - 4th grade. Middle and high school grades may also wear forest green collared shirts in addition to navy and white; high schoolers also have the option of black.

What is the student to teacher ratio per class?
We have 25 students per class (100 per grade) with one teacher for grades K-4th and a maximum of 30 students per class for 5th-12th grades.
We also have Academic Coaches who travel throughout the day to assist in the classrooms during their peak times to see that all students receive any extra attention that they may need.
