Leadership Prep Vision
Leadership Prep School is the P.L.A.C.E. to beOur Mission … is to inspire students to learn, grow, and lead for a lifetime. Our Vision ... includes five cornerstones:
Parent Partnership
We believe parents are the chief educators of their children and need to be actively involved in their child’s school experience. Strong partnerships between parents and our school fosters clear and consistent communication and creates a united approach to each child’s success. Parents are encouraged to attend training seminars, observe their child in the classroom, and serve the school in some capacity. By creating these bonds, parents are empowered, the school is strengthened and our students are successful.
Leadership Development
Our culture is centered around leadership, with a curriculum that teaches students to make choices that are intentional and thoughtful. Our students are taught that every decision they make has consequences for themselves and others. As they learn to lead themselves, our students embrace the idea they can leave a lasting impression on the world around them by accepting leadership opportunities in their professions, their organizations, their communities, and their world.
Academics
At LPS, learning is transformational. Teachers are empowered to use best teaching practices and embrace creativity in their rooms. Diverse teaching practices expose students to a variety of learning experiences: small groups, field trips, hands-on activities, guest speakers, and one-on-one instruction are just some of the ways our students receive instruction. Individual student needs are taken into account, maximizing each child’s success. Every child, regardless of ability, is valued and given maximal opportunities to learn. For students with special needs (ELL/ESL, learning disabilities, etc.), we develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to equip each child for the future.
Creativity
Our teachers are encouraged to bring their unique experience and
ideas into their classrooms. Because their rooms are filled with diverse learners, teachers are empowered to use different teaching models and methods. Creativity is not used simply for creativity’s sake, but as a means to increase student engagement and learning.
Excellence
Our school is a center of excellence. Faculty and staff are held to a high standard of excellence and incorporate our vision into everything they do. Students are held to a high level academically, and are also expected to demonstrate appropriate, positive behavior. As our students learn to lead themselves, we believe that they will become standards of excellence in their own right, rather than simply conforming to one. -
Leadership Principles and Core Values
The Leadership Prep School core values are:
People First
We believe in Culture over Content, Students over Standards, and Parents over Paper. We believe in the power of relationships and alignments.
Growth Mindset
We believe in fostering creativity, innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking. Everyone should be continually learning and improving.
Agency
We believe in being proactive, pursuing self-mastery, giving one's best, and seeking feedback.
- To help achieve our mission, vision, and core values, we actively focus on teaching leadership skills utilizing The Leader in Me paradigm (see below).
- We also target 21st Century skills using a project-based learning approach.
- Lastly, we are faith-friendly.

The Leader in Me
Applying FranklinCovey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. The program is aligned to many national and state academic standards, and teaches students the skills needed for academic success in any setting including critical thinking, goal-setting, listening and speaking, self-directed learning, presentation-making, and the ability to work in groups.
Our teachers seek to implement these leadership qualities in their own lives as well as incorporate them across grade levels and curriculum.
